Description

Above the hoar and misty land, I soar,
Hearing the wind howling with a mighty roar,
And when the dusk falls and the sky begins to haze,
Far into the distance I gaze,
Only to see it, our glory and grace,
Burning with fire and blaze.
For the last time,
For our time has come to an end...

Woo, traditional art, long time no see! Oh, and a landscape too, two birds with one stone! :dummy: Do you still remember this? I actually finished it: 31 December in 2016. Sorry for all those who've been waiting for black paper works, this took awful long and I had submitted this yesterday but I couldn't due to the bad shooting issues late at night. ^^; I also suffered from the lack of idea what to use to make all the 'whiteness' slightly differ from each other. And only yesterday found enough courage to try out that magical tool that truly saved me! Behold the power of * heavy drumming* ... a White gel pen!!! It's magical, isn't it? ;) You probably won't notice any difference but all the white edges on the phoenix and the icy kingdom (not those in the mountains and snow) are made with the gel pen in question. I should probably take a better shot but I wanted to show you this piece is finally done.

And to those who are curious. No, the village below that's surrounded by blue flames is not burning. Although yes, it's fire there on the posts you won't see. I think it's a good time to throw in some info about the race (perhaps you'll figure why the flames are there ^^):

The Blue Phoenix was a kind race that once settled down on the highest mountain top far in the Northern Continent. Their inner heat was said to be so hot it would burn everything and everyone - that came too near - to ashes. So the only place for such creatures to be was somewhere isolated from the others. Somewhere where the severe frigidity ruled. And so they found their way on that mountain.

Times passed, but little by little, they learnt to control their inner fire and even learned to cool it.

And as the hard frosts closed in, the knowledge found its way even under The Blue Phoenix's wings that the many creatures living in the North were on the verge of freezing to their deaths. A kind race, as they were, The Blue Phoenix couldn't resist watching them suffer and die from the side. This is when for the first time this mighty phoenix race, took a step towards the other creatures. With their new abilities to affect the temperature - even though they couldn't completely remove all cold - they decided to care of those in need of warmth. They did so by sharing their warmth with others; gifting them with their magical flames that were believed to calm down any anger or hatred and heal every sorrow and depression. It was told that when you gazed deep in the blue flame’s heart it'd bring you joy and calm down even the most restless of souls.

So it was believed, but whether or not they are just a myth is for everyone to decide by themselves. But one thing is sure: their fire was something special to the others. At that time it could even surpass any gold and money. It was the key to survival for the evergoing struggle of life and death that took its place in the North. These flames were stronger and warmer than that of other phoenixes’. And there was yet another positive side, it always kept you warm when you so desired because that fire never extinguished until the life of The Blue Phoenix itself had passed…

And so could the villagers gifted with such presents, tell when the doom had come as one by one the flames' light died away...

Though this short info dump doesn't show it but they could also bring snow and frost to the land but they didn't usually do so until they had ensured other's safety.

Well, I hope you like it! :meow:
